With more than two decades of commercial and residential real estate experience, Gordon founded Elevate Development Corp to leverage his experience to deliver exceptional quality and service to his partners at EDC.
With Gordon’s expertise in identifying underperforming commercial real estate assets and new development opportunities coupled with top notch partners and an amazing staff, we have been able to grow EDC to the company it is today.
In recent years, the addition of Scott Bearss as a partner at EDC has enabled Gordon and EDC to increase velocity and aggressively grow EDC’s real estate portfolio and number of future projects in its pipeline.
Gordon lives in North Vancouver with his wife and two teenage kids. He loves to hike, spend time with friends and family and ski at their family property at Sun Peaks.
Scott Bearss is a Partner with the Elevate Group and is responsible for oversight of all day-to-day operations of the Group; including but not limited to strategic direction, management of staff, sourcing of properties (development or income producing), due diligence, financing, property management, risk management and wider partner relationships associated with the Group’s portfolio and activities.
Scott joined Elevate after a near 20 year career as a Corporate, commercial and Real Estate Banker, including senior roles for almost a decade with the Republic Bank and Royal Bank in The West Indies (and Latin America), followed by 4 years with Bank of Montreal (BMO) in downtown Vancouver and almost 10 years with Canadian Western Bank (CWB). Scott brings this seasoned experience as a financier and manager of large teams into his role and investment in Elevate.
His educational background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Ottawa and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of the West Indies, coupled with several professional courses over the last 20 years.
Scott lives in Delta with his wife and two young daughters. When not swimming in proformas, appraisals, leases, purchase agreements, QS reports and running alongside a professional Elevate Team, he spends time trying to recreate his junior hockey life, pretending to be a good golfer, adding to his aged rum collection, and keeping up with his 8 and 6 year old daughters.
Andrea Thievin is Elevate Development’s Manager – Projects and Business Development. Her primary focus with Elevate is all things project and development planning. From the initial conception, planning, budgeting, drawing/design, municipal process and construction management, Andrea does it all for both commercial and residential developments.
Andrea began her commercial real estate career in 2008 while working for Colliers International in commercial brokerage. During Andrea’s 10-year tenure in brokerage, she was driven in all aspects of the deal process including due diligence, marketing, prospecting, negotiations, contract writing and deal closing. Andrea is also experienced in residential project sales, where she worked for a short-term managing the sales process of a variety of new construction projects in the Greater Vancouver area.
Andrea has her Real Estate Business Diploma from BCIT’s professional real estate program (2008), is a licensed real estate professional (2009) and more recently completed her project management certificate (PMC) from SFU’s continuing studies program (2020).
In her off hours, Andrea can be found cheering on her two kids at their various extracurricular sports/passions, weekend adventuring with the family, or relaxing at her Tri-cities home.
Edith Szikinger is Elevate’s Senior Accountant. She handles all aspects of the accounting function including corporate, treasury, property and development accounting. She is our in-house excel and Sage 300CRE expert, having implemented the later for the Elevate group of companies.
Edith’s has 8 years of real estate industry experience, starting her career with Serracan Properties as a Jr. Accountant where she learned all aspects of property and development accounting. She moved to Wesgroup Properties as the Senior Treasury Accountant before joining Elevate Development Corp in 2019.
Edith’s is a Chartered Professional Accountant and graduated with a Bachelor of Technology in Accounting degree from BCIT.
Edith enjoys traveling and the great outdoors. She spent her post high-school years traveling around Hawaii, Fiji, Australia, Thailand and Europe before coming back to Vancouver to attend BCIT and start her career in accounting. She can often be found camping and off-road exploring with her trusty Jeep Wrangler.

John Zacharias is the Manager – Assets, Finance and Operations for Elevate Development Corp. Not content to wear one hat as a commercial banker, John stepped into the role of many hats with Elevate Development in 2021.
His professional experience includes working for two major commercial banks: Canadian Western Bank and HSBC. He began his commercial banking career in Loan Administration with CWB, gradually moving up in roles and responsibilities to run the Loan Administration for the Surrey Panorama Branch. He then moved into the Credit function working as a Senior Credit Officer for several years before moving to HSBC. At HSBC, he co-managed the largest book in the Fraser Valley with an estimated exposure of $250 million before running his own Business Banking book.
His educational experience includes a Diploma in General Studies from Thompson Rivers University and numerous continuing education courses in a variety of topics.
John calls Clayton Heights home with his wife and three children. When not working, he enjoys playing guitar and piano, critiquing movies, or reading a book no one will probably recognize.
Jeannie So is the Senior Accountant, Tax for Elevate Development. She handles the accounting, financial reporting, and tax components for the Elevate Development Group of companies. She is an expert in Corporate tax compliance and tax accounting and her role at Elevate is to guide the Elevate Group’s objectives for optimum tax planning and organizational structure.
A veteran in public practice, Jeannie began her professional career with a small public practice firm. She was responsible for preparing year-end financial statements, along with the Corporate tax returns for small to medium-sized private companies. Jeannie also joined the tax team of a mid-sized public practice firm with a focus on Corporate tax for publicly-listed companies. Jeannie also worked for a land development company assisting in the tax and accounting functions. She worked for Ernst and Young in 2018 as a Tax Manager, working closely with clients for their tax compliance, tax provisions, and tax accounting needs before coming to Elevate in 2021.
Jeannie graduated from SFU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (Accounting Major) and holds her CPA and CGA designations. She is also currently working through the CPA’s In-Depth Tax Program with a projected graduation date of Fall 2021.
Her current interests include her Corgi Puppy that is a great distraction from work. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling to new locales and checking out hole-in-the-wall restaurants off the beaten path.
